Rule
#13
Don't be a Carbaholic!
Most of
us consume way too many carbs, inadequate amounts of protein
and all the wrong kinds of fats. As I said, there are no set
"perfect" macronutrient ratios that works for everybody,
such as the 40/30/30. Imagine stating that there is only one
ratio that works for everybody. That is like saying there
is only one kind of exercise program for everybody. Ratios
are as individual as the persons consuming them and as varied
as their activities, not to mention the unique metabolisms
that drive them.
Some of
the worst snacking habits are eating carbs alone, especially
refined grains. This ineffective ratio of a high glycemic,
starchy carb, will send the signal to our bodies to compensate
for the imbalance by decreasing LBM (lean body mass) because
of dropping nitrogen levels, increasing the storage of fat,
due to the spiking of insulin levels and even long term, possible
hormonal changes if there is a lack of essential fats. Totally
opposite to what most of us would think when snacking on that
fat free rice cake. So learn how to balance meals, increase
LBM and decrease bodyfat.
